Guiding Principles

The MN LTARN emphasizes four major principles:

  1. The centricity of food, fiber, bio-industrial feed stock, and health.
  2. The use of short-, mid-, and long-term experiments conducted to address long-term goals/questions.
  3. The use of a knowledge and site-based approach to network design.
  4. Address research, engagement, and education simultaneously for timely and successful outcome-based results and dissemination.

These concepts are supported by the recognition of resilient agricultural production systems and environmental responsibility (i.e., developing strategies that create even greater value through enhanced ecosystem services such as improved water quality, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, etc.).
